Say no to clothing labels! πŸš«

Ah clothes… πŸ‘• They’ve always been a problem for me (and I’m sure many of you out there too). The struggle to find clothes without super annoying tags/labels and be made of a non-itchy / bearable fabric is SUCH A PAIN.

I understand why tags and labels are inside clothes to give us size/washing/manufacturer information but what I don’t understand is why they aren’t easily removable. I either suffer with a tag in a t-shirt or the back of my jeans or I cut them out and suffer with the STILL scratchy bits of tag left behind. I think we’ve all accidentally made holes in t-shirt trying to remove annoying tags.

I have some good go-to brands when it comes to label-free clothing, recently I found clothes in Uniqlo such as t-shirts and jeans without a tag at the back. Yes it’s a miracle and yes I got excited. Does anyone else know of any reasonably priced clothing brands that come without tags? Please share in the comments below – I’ll be eternally grateful!

My mum was telling me about M&S (UK) who have an adaptive clothing range for children (up to age 16) with disabilities which is fab and has been expanded since launch. There are around 1.5 million children in the UK who have a sensory or physical disability and so it really is a great step in the right direction (teens and adults next? I hope!).

It’s hard to explain but if you are a sensory-being like me a simple tag can really overwhelm you. Imagine having something that irritates you and affects your mood throughout the day – it’s such a small thing but I have had tags cause me huge meltdowns because I just cannot function with it touching and hurting me.

This overwhelm also applies to uncomfy clothes, aka special occasion clothes. I do not feel naturally comfortable in a dress/skirt/tights/fancy top/etc but I am able to wear these when I have to and the occasion is fancy (ugh)…I will however immediately put on a jumper and jeans on arrival home πŸ˜€

Another little drawing by me – feel free to share but please credit @21andsensory – thanks!

An introduction to all to my succulents! πŸŒ±

I’d like to introduce you all to my…succulents!🌱

They are really important to me and I kinda love being responsible of them. Last week I repotted the 3 little ones into matching pots/dishes so they now look like a ‘lil set 🌿

The largest one was my first succulent. His name is Stanley (named after the epic actor that is: Stanley Tucci). I’ve had him a while and it’s been so lovely to see him grow further. These succulents live in my bedroom so I see them a lot and can keep an eye on them. I’m very attached to them and I’m loving how they look like a little set ❀️

Can you turn the sound down please? πŸ”‡

Hello everyone – hope you are all having a good day. I’ve done another little drawing which I thought I would share with you all. I am very sensory defensive when it comes to sound. I am constantly asking my parents to turn the sound/volume down on the TV πŸ˜‚ It’s always too loud for me πŸ”ˆ

I’ve also been struggling this week with a busy open plan office at work which is noisy and bustling and generally wears me out! 😱 I also jump at anything even slightly loud (even people sneezing 🀧) I’ve been using my noise cancelling headphones but does anyone else have any other good tips for dealing with loud noises?

Also: I’ve reached 1,000 followers on Instagram! Thanks so much to everyone out there who follows along – my main aim when setting up my blog and Instagram was that if I could help out one person out there by providing sensory advice / tips / support / etc to them then I would be happy!

Good Distractions (a new drawing!)✏️

Hi everyone! I’m back with another original drawing ✏️ let me know what you think of it in the comments below ☺️ so I thought I’d do a drawing including the things that help me when I feel a bit of a meltdown coming on…

Featured items:

Moleskine journal πŸ“” – I usually go for a blank paper one for doodle but they do lined and dotted paper ones too.

Drinks and snacks: a good old cup of tea β˜•οΈ an Costa CoffeeΒ strawberries and cream drink πŸ“ a good old glass of orange juice or squash 🍊 a nice big apple 🍎 some digestive biscuits πŸͺ and I had to include some form of chocolate so I went for Cadbury Dairy Milk 🍫

Fidgets: Notebook from Flying tiger covered in amazing sequins you can stim back and forth with 😍 a good old fashioned Rubik’s Cube that I found secondhand 🧠

I also have the most amazing Chewigem berries chewellery necklace! πŸ‡ I picked the blues and greens theme! πŸ’™πŸ’š it’s very chunky and each bead is covered in little nubs for sensory appeal and greater feedback when chewing. The beads have a heavy sort of weighted feel and I just like to hold and fidget with them. It’s hardwearing so would work well for more robust chewers!

And finally a squishy ball with gel beads in it from The Works Stores which is fab for having in a coat or hoodie pocket! Feel free to share my drawing on social media but please credit me πŸ™‚
